i am currently researching real-time face tracking and recognition systems as a research assistant in the robotics research group at the university of oxford, under the supervision of andrew zisserman, where i also recently completed my PhD on automatic video segmentation and matting. i am also a graduate member of brasenose college and a james fairfax oxford-australia scholar.

before coming to oxford, i studied information science and systems engineering at the australian national university. in 2005, i passed my master's thesis on lane tracking at the research school of information science and engineering at anu.

my current research interests include machine learning, real-time object tracking and recognition, and solving interesting inverse problems in computer vision, such as alpha matting, with the aid of natural image statistics. my phd thesis focuses on automatically detecting, segmenting and matting occluding objects in video using spatiotemporal information.
